Online Marketing is such a broad term.  There are so many elements to include when it comes to promoting and marketing your business online.  Online Marketing can includes but is not limited to: Affiliate Marketing, Social Media Marketing,  Search Engine Optimization, Email Marketing, Website Development and Promotion.  And much more, technology is always advancing on a daily basis.

• Conducting a survey to see exactly what your target audience needs.

• Finding out what is keeping your target audience up at night. And then show them that you are the solution.

• Creating compelling web content & have an understanding of SEO.

Simple; Just ask them.   That's where a lot of small businesses go wrong.  They don't talk to their target market. Or even worse, they don't know who their ideal clients are. 

And the Internet has made it easier than ever to communicate with your target market.

• There are survey sites like www.surveymonkey.com that will allow you create a survey and then post it on your website or social media outlets.

• There are free online discussion boards and Forums full of people that are looking to have their problems solved. 

• You can host a Teleseminar(seminar over the phone) with a Live Q& A session.  Where you simply just answer all the questions your target market may have.

Graphic Design.  There are so many elements that go into making a website look and feel like it represents your brand.  There are a lot of technical stuff that takes place.  I tried and wasn't too impressed.  I will just stick to what I know best: Online Marketing.  However, I can point you in the right direction, by providing you with valuable resources that I recommend.
